How to Resolve Sophos Installation and Uninstallation Issues?

  . First, you should disable Tamper Protection; to do this, click on the Windows search bar, then search and open Settings.

  . Then, enter Recover in the search bar and open Recovery Options.

  . Select Restart Now in the Advanced Startup section. 

  . Next, choose Troubleshoot, then click Advanced Options.

  . After that, you need to select Command Prompt and choose your account to proceed.

  . Plus, type the password and click Continue. 

  . When you are on the Administrator window, enter c:\>cd windows\system32\drivers and press Enter.

  . Plus, type enter C: \Windows\system32\driver>ren SophosED.sys SophosED.sys.old and press Enter.

  . Write Exit, press Enter, and select Continue.

  . Select the Windows search button again, search Services, right-click on it, and select Run as Administrator.

  . For the Services window, right-click on the Sophos Antivirus program and click on Properties.

  . Select the Startup Type to Disabled, then click Apply and OK to save the changes. 

  . Then you should right-click Sophos MCS Agent and select Properties.

  . Plus, set the Startup Type to Disabled, choose Apply, and OK to save the changes. 

  . Select the Windows start button, search regedit, and open Registry Editor.

  . In the User Account Control window, click on the Yes button. 

  . Choose File in the Registry Editor window and select Export.

  . Then move to the Desktop option, enter the file name as Registry Backup, and select Save.

  . Go to HEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Sophos MCS Agent using the navigation bar. 

  . Choose the Start folder, set the Value Data to 4, and click OK

  . Move to HEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SophosEndpoint Defense\TamperProtection\Config.

  . Choose SAVEnabled, set the Value Data to 0, and press OK.

  . For SEDEnabled, repeat the same step. 

  . Go to HEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\ Sophos\SAVServices\TamperProtection.

  . Click on Enable and set the Value Data to 0, and press OK.

  . After that, click on the Windows search bar, search Control Panel, and open it.

  . Look for the Sophos application and click Uninstall.

  . Follow the steps to finish the installation.

  . After uninstalling the program, reinstall it.
